The 12-Animal Turkish Calendar (Altai Autonomous Region - Russia) is a calendar widely used in Asia, especially by the Turkish and Chinese people. The Japanese, Koreans, Vietnamese, Mongolians and Manchus also used different versions. In this calendar, each animal represents a year. For example; "Year of the Pars". It is believed that each year is shaped according to the characteristics of that animal. For example, there is a belief that entertainment will increase in the year of the Monkey. It progresses in periods called Age (AGE: 12x5=60 years) and this figure is the average human lifespan. The 12-Animal Turkish Calendar begins in 209 BC, the date of Mete Han's accession to the throne.

The Kazakhs call this calendar system "Müşel". The Yakuts (Sakhalar) use a 12-year calendar, but use the names of gods instead of animals.

Oşlak Ay (or Ashlak Ay) - It is the first month in the shaman calendar of the Eurasian nomadic peoples and the Turks in particular. It begins on March 21st with the celebration of Uluğ Kün (Great Day), or Nevruz. This spring festival is held with sacrificial ceremonies, celebrations and traditional entertainment and continues to exist today.

The Last Month (Azerbaijani "Sonay") - is the first half of the year in Turkish folk culture. Especially in Azerbaijani folklore, it is called the last moonlit nights of the autumn season. In Azerbaijani "moon thought" (mythological understanding), the Moon and the Sun are lovers. Their love is eternal. But they can never meet. However, on this day when day and night are equal, these eternal lovers can see each other's faces. But then they lose again before they can meet. Various games are played in Azerbaijani villages on this night.
